A Joyful Trouble: a fundraiser for Misfit Academy

Portland’s immersive storytellers and alternative arts nonprofit Misfit Academy 501(c)(3) turns 14 and we’re throwing A Joyful Trouble, a very special party full of all our favorite people!

Come celebrate  at this cocktail party and casual gala featuring Cry Havoc! a Shakespeare themed live Dungeons & Dragons actual play event, raffle prizes, silent auction, Kit Kat dancers, music, and more!

As we’ve grown, so have our needs, and what better way to kick off our end of year fundraising than with a big shindig with a whole lot of what we’re known for - immersive world building, story based performance, a little bit of Shakespeare, and a healthy dose of sexiness!?

Come down to mingle with Megan, Myrrh, and your fellow performing arts enthusiasts, and get a chance to interact with our Shakespeare themed D&D live play game, Cry Havoc! Watch as the main characters from a Shakespeare play are dropped into the plot, but beware - there’s a twist lurking in the game and none of the players know who they are playing, or which play they are in! Help them discover their destinies and see if they stick to the story or jump the proverbial shark as you send them hints, purchase game play goodies like automatic successes, magical items, or tricksy plot twists, and unlock celebrity guest cameos as we reach our fundraising goals!

In addition to our main feature, A Joyful Trouble is just that - a celebration of artists, performers, supporters, and troublemakers - including a casual gala and cocktail party with custom drink specials from Steep and Thorny mixologists Myrrh Larsen and Megan Skye Hale as well as D&D inspired dances from some of Kit Kat Club’s finest, and raffle prizes or silent auction items from Embassy Suites, Raven’s Manor, Conspirator’s Coffee Lounge, The Can Can’s Paris Theatre, Microcosm Books, Wyrd Leather & Mead, Clark’s Coffee, Chappys Chains, and more!
